Review of Steel Magnolias (2012) by Kevin M — 03 Jan 2011
A complete and total ripoff of the Matrix. I have never seen a movie so mindlessly driven by special effects, I heard that 90% of the movie was shot infront of a green screen, but it looked more like 90% to me.
Herbert Ross's direction took this film to another level, making the completely tanlentless Sally Field look like a modern day Danika Patrick. Wally Pfisters cinematography makes Chicago's landscape a hell of a backdrop to this poorly written psychological thriller based on Stephanie Meyer's novel "Blue Moon".
Tom Selleck does an incredible job as J.P. Tickler and actually makes you feel remorseful for the way African Americans have been treated since the early 90's. Julia Roberts didn't show enough tits.
The only problem with this movie is the fact that executive producer George Lucas is going to make 3 prequel films for it (god, didn't he learn his lesson with American Graffiti?) All in all this movie blows.
Its a cinematic triumph, I give it a C+.
