SNL's Lorne Michaels' live show, written by Martin and Short, clearly delighted its packed house. The variety-inspired pacing blends enjoyably classy entertainment and clever, chuckle-inducing Hope/Crosby banter with uproarious, fearless comic sets.
Short's reverence for and gratitude to longtime friend Martin is so plain that it's fodder for laughs, and it lends heart to this performance.
