Review of Suburbicon (2017) by Tyler A — 14 Nov 2017
Well, it is different. And I think why a lot of people have a hard time with this movie is because most of the adults in this movie are assholes. The kid in this story is who we're rooting for, and he does a pretty good job of acting. In fact, he was pretty magnificent. I think maybe this story is trying to make a social comment on how we ( a significant number of white people in America), will work ourselves into a tizzy about certain things, like a black family moving into a white neighborhood for instance (and destroy neighborhoods in the process), while much more egregious acts are going on mostly unnoticed, right under our noses.
And, that our hope for changing for the better lies in the kids growing up and leading us out of this terrible cycle of prejudice and hate.
