Review of Super Troopers (2001) by Lewis C — 27 Apr 2018
Super Troopers is an occasionally funny film, but overall serves as a silly movie. The premise of state highway troopers trying to do real police work is interesting, but the execution is poor. The state troopers work is only sometimes funny, with many scenes being very cringe worthy and hard to watch.
The rivalry with the actual police force can serve as more of the funny elements and are part of the plot. There is really not much story in this film either, which isn't to be expected in a film like this.
The story doesn't really get going until the second half and the side adventures are more interesting than a bunch of state troopers trying to solve a drug bust. The characters are very forgettable too, but there jokes are more memorable and laughable.
There is a lot of swearing and sexual jokes too, which can often add to some more of the humorous moments. Overall, Super Troopers is a very silly comedy with a few standout jokes. It may have been better in its day, but Super Troopers has not aged well and is very silly compared to today's movies.
