Review of Survive Style 5+ (2004) by Matt G — 16 Mar 2009
OK, since it's obvious that noone seems to catch on.. No, there is no plot to this movie, it's essentially a melding of random events. BUT there IS a point to this movie. The point of this film is not to tell a straightforward tale, but to take a look at and deliver messages about LOVE.
It's main purpose is to make you think about relationships and question any of our conventional views about love and passions. Each of the 5 cases examined are tied together quite nicely, but each one is a different look at what people love most in their lives and how they deal with such.
There's the guy and girl who constantly fight each throughout the film rather than just letting it go, finding their common ground and working together. There's the gay guy in love with another guy that would appear to have no interest in requiting said love.
A family who loves their father till his accident and how his one son continues to. We also have the narcists; a guy who could only love himself and the woman who thinks everything she thinks up for work is brilliant.
Both have a passion for what they do, but more-so love themselves and their ability to do it. And finally, there's even the assassin who takes his job quite seriously. He has a passion for what he does, as illustrated by his willingness to do the one job he considered to be worthy for a low price, and ensuring he succeeds.
