Review of Swimming with Men (2018) by Tim W — 30 Dec 2018
Heartwarming, excruciating, contrived and twee in equal measure, the weary formula of British romcom is rolled out again. The cast is superb, hence the stars, but so underworked it's sometimes painful to watch.
Some laugh out loud moments - the desk calendar is a nice touch - but otherwise you've seen it all before. All this talk of challenging masculinity and age stereotypes is nonsense. Life, unless you live in a Brit romcom, is nothing at all like this.
