Review of Table 19 (2017) by Frankie W — 01 Jan 2018
Like a pleasant social event, Table 19 is enjoyable for it's unpredictability, charming characters, and thoughtfulness. Unlike much of today's disposable entertainment, Table 19 does not leave you with only emptier pockets and less time left on this earth.
It is a film about life, its stages, and its choices. It simultaneously ponders the bitter loneliness at the end of it, the unexpected rollercoasters in the middle, and the confusion and untapped potential of the beginning.
You are all of these people and you are none of these people, and watching it is a touchstone for our own lives, while at the same time being something special itself. While not entirely revolutionary, this film is sweet, thoughtful, and joyful, and lives up to it's potential to both entertain and charm you.
