Review of Table for Three (2009) by Heather M — 11 Jun 2013
Probably like the worst romantic comedy I think I've ever seen. I thought "The Ugly Truth" was awful and couldn't be beaten. I was dead-wrong. Extremely unfunny. I chuckled maybe once or twice. It's an hour and a half, standard length, but it felt a hell of a lot longer. Nobody is very likeable here. Scott, the hero, isn't supposed to be agitating but he is. Perhaps its because Brandon Routh offers no good, charismatic onscreen persona. He's just there, reciting lines like he belongs in a high school play. Sophia Bush and Jesse Bradford are sickeningly obnoxious throughout as codependent couple/roommates, Ryan and Mary. The only somewhat good thing these characters ever did was throw Scott a birthday party. At which point, by the way, Scott is revealed to be an ass too.
This movie is just a mess. It's incredibly grating and I hated everybody in it.
