Review of Taken 3 (2014) by Russell S — 07 Dec 2016
Makes the editing of the 2nd and 3rd Bourne movies seem positively serene by comparison. The cuts come so thick and fast from start to finish that the whole movie becomes nothing more than a nauseating, irritating mess.
Just see how many times you can count to 3 at any point in the movie without there being a cut. Most times you won't get past 2, very often you won't even get past 1 and only a hanful of times will you ever get past 4. The editing is so distracting that I simply didn't care what the plot or script was like - which in the end were both pretty lame too.
THE ONLY thing I will defend is the title. Being murdered IS a way of being "taken". In language people often describe a death as having someone taken from them. Most critics jump on that as their first criticism which in itself is annoying when they start off with an error. There are a ton of criticisms to be made about Taken 3, however it's title isn't one of them. A terrible experience of a movie in every way but largely in the camera work and editing.
