Review of Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006) by Felix C — 23 Nov 2013
(Upcoming Review) Rating: 8.3/10 Overview: Definitely found its spot on my top 10 list of movies based on real rock bands. Although assuming it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously, TPOD feels as if the whole movie is an 86 minute song, only .
.. well, not that much music by them, but the greatness of the songs they DO play are totally worth it. There was only ONE pet peeve I had with this movie, the fact that they gave the impression that the most awesome band in the world (featuring and mentioning The Who, Led Zeppelin.
..) can only make great music with the magic powers of a pick... really? Music comes from your own heart and soul guys! But hey, it's a comedy. At least they made up for it by beating the devil without such a power anyway, and so they learned that they don't need no magic to write their music, why?-CUZ THEY ARE TENACIOUS D.
.. and then they smoke from the devil's horn to write their stuff in the end... Come on guys. Still, it's an excellent movie all the same, and I even recommend you get your friends together in your basement, watch it, have a laugh and have a good time.
(thanks for introducing me to DIO, Jables).
