Review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) by Michael M — 27 Jan 2013
The best of the series. One of the best sequels ever. One of the best sci-fi movies ever, and all around great film. Some great action sequences, and it's really intriguing seeing the Terminator learning the value of human life. My only gripe is with Sarah Connors often incredibly cheesy and unnecessary monologues about what's currently happening in the film, which just make it feel hokey, but these are few and far between.
I liked seeing the Terminator's strange surrogate father relationship developing with young John Connor, and I even liked the somewhat controversial John Connor himself (who many found annoying). The plot has plenty of interesting twists delving more into the mythology than the fairly simple original did, and the action is fantastic. The fact that this still manages to be one of the most breathtaking action flicks with some of the best effects more than 20 years after it was first released is pretty damn impressive.
