Review of Tetris (2023) by Phracci — 31 Mar 2023
For its genre, it is an all-out film, entertaining and doing so in the classic sense of the word: fluid, well-directed and edited screenplay, with very good soundtrack and very valid performances. There is no shortage of creative tidbits, with some visual effects (in this case, pixelated and colorful) that break the mold of traditional filmmaking in a way that makes the film in tune with the video game theme.
Nothing transcendental, it's not authorial or arthouse: it simply manages to pull you into the story big time enough to make it magical while still actually happening. The situation of the early days of Tetris I personally did not know, but I am glad I discovered it with this feature film.
