Review of Texas Heart (2016) by Eric C — 04 Aug 2018
I loved this movie because it combines the charms and quirks of indie cinema with the intelligent, fine-tuned script of a John Grisham-style drama. This is the type of movie that a decade or two would have been picked up by Cinemax or Showtime but now is increasingly migrating to outlets like Amazon.
Effectively balances, drama, humor, small town observation and thriller elements with Erik Fellows anchoring a strong ensemble. The film is propelled by a strong sense of purpose and an underdog, chip-on-its-shoulder determination to prove that it can tell a solid, suspenseful story on a smaller budget.
