Review of The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) by Patrick P — 13 Jan 2019
"The Amazing Spider-Man" plays as an interesting twist in the original story. I love how the plot quite differs from the original story. It still is an origin story, and that can hinter the movie a little, but it still manages to grasp your attention.
Andrew Garfield plays a much younger, teen version of Spider-Man, and he does that quite amazingly. I really enjoy his version, it feels fresh. The third act felt kinda forced and unsatisfactory. If the finale was carried out in a different way, this could easily get a higher score.
The forced finale makes it suffer. The villain is an interesting character in this particular story, and the heroes past plays a large role in forming who he is, and since the two are connected it makes for the perfect drama.
I quite enjoyed this aspect of the movie. "The Amazing Spider-Man" is a fresh take on the original, still it suffers from a forced third act.
