Review of The Anniversary Party (2001) by Conor M — 03 Dec 2008
This is a fairly effective ensemble piece, with some interesting characters and good performances. Where it falters, unfortunately, is when it gets too serious and everyone starts emoting all over the place.
It becomes clear by the end that this was written with the basic intention of giving its actors emotionally meaty parts to show off how great they are at their craft. In a way, I felt cheated by that walking away from it.
