Review of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) by Andy S — 06 Jan 2019
Six diverse vignettes of the wild west are strung together in this Coen Brothers anthology with dark humour woven through as a common thread. Some tales are brief and comical, while others are downright heartbreaking.
Like all good movies, you find yourself experiencing a roller-coaster of emotions within its 2-hour or so bracket. Each story has its own merits, big or small, and some are more memorable than the others.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs stands out like a shining pistol in its own dark, funny and enigmatic ways.
