Review of The Ballad of Lefty Brown (2017) by John R — 02 Feb 2018
The Ballad of Lefty Brown is a a different kind of western , one that although relies heavily on what the audience expects out of a western, also gives a much deeper look at the changing times of the west when greed and betrayal weren't just traits of the roaming bandits and rustlers but the quickly solidifying government.
In the middle of all the whirlwinds is Lefty Brown a "last of the mohicans " some might say who is being washed away by time and in trying to avenge his friend finds himself stuggling with a past that is forgotten to all including himself whilst the glory of his past is forgone to shine on his friends all of whom in the end would fail to prove as able as he.
If you watch this with the glass empty but a love for westerns this is a great movie albeit slower paced as many are today it is much deeper than many will give it credit for.
