Review of The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years (2016) by Wayne M — 24 Jun 2017
The Beatles existed on a plane that few if any bands have existed on in the history of music. They were massively popular in the extreme but also enjoyed almost unanimous critical success. Ron Howard doesn't present a new story but perhaps a timely reminder of just how huge they actually were.
with a film that focuses on their touring years, essentially 1963 to 1966. We get the screaming girls, the huge crowds but also perhaps an insight in what it was like to be a Beatle on the road. They were crazy times and this film does well to document that time in history.
By 1966 the constant attention wore thin and the band quit touring to concentrate on time in the studio. There were many reasons why The Beatles were so popular and it's nice to see them placed together nicely again in this well executed documentary.
