Review of The Benchwarmers (2006) by Josh R — 24 Jan 2015
When I saw that critics had given it 11% and viewers 64%, I had to see the reason for the disparity.
Much of the plot doesn't make sense, and there are scenes that make you scratch your head and ask if you actually saw what you just saw. It's like someone threw out the idea in the brainstorming session for the movie and they wrote it in half an hour.
Despite all this, the movie ends up being bad... awesomely bad. Whatever far fetched idea anyone had for a riff was thrown in, and the lack of inhibition actually makes this a pretty funny movie. You laugh, not directly at the jokes but at the absurdity of it all.
If you're looking for something to play in the background that you can laugh at but don't need to focus attention on, this is your movie.
