Review of The Big Short (2015) by Curtis C — 18 Feb 2017
Admittedly I probably approached 'The Big Short' with the wrong mindset. Thinking it was an out and out comedy, and given the all-star cast, I set it up with high hopes. The disappointment didn't take long to ensue, as I quickly realised the story focused around the (as exciting as it sounds) housing credit bubble back in the early 2000's.
.. Accepting this I plowed on, hoping to be both enlightened and entertained. Unfortunately, neither happened. The a-list cast do their best to make it enjoyable, although even they can't save it from becoming genuinely boring.
Some of the characters themselves felt as though they were trying too hard to be entertaining, and comedy was definitely lacking. A disappointing watch given my expectations, and the accolades it won.
