[font=Tahoma]Cheesy.... hokey... brightly colored... a little far-fetched you say... yes its all that and so much more! What a wonderful genre of movies. Fifties sci fi and monster/horror. What an innocent time to go to the movies and have the crap scared out of you because this wasn't "just" an alien movie or funny japanese godzilla or pod people. These movies were really government propaganda trying to tell us all about the "real" truth. The red menace and the iron curtain. Better watch out cuz they got the BOMB![/font].

[font=Tahoma]I can't imagine what these people of the fifties thought as they watched this stuff so all I can tell you is how I felt when I watched these as a kid in the late 60's and early 70's. LOVED EM! My Mom actually got me into these movies, especially sci fi and I never looked back. I feel a certain fondness for this genre - they are just entertaining as hell. Plus, if you really listen closely the soundtracks were amazing and the special effects - they introduced amazing new techniques that are idolized today. Some, I admit, border on the crappy cuz they made em so cheap but if you can look past some of that you can revel in the just plain... pulpiness of them. What a great era of cinema.[/font].
