Review of The Blob (1988) by Martin R — 28 Dec 2014
I really should give this one a 3.5 out of 5, but I want to have some sort of consistency with my horror ratings and--gore wise, ehhh--but those effects, man, they're the only reason I'd give "the Blob" a 4/5.
Yeah, that's what this movie is called, "the Blob," it's about, well, a blob that came to earth from space and...that's the intro for this movie. The acting is ehhh; some teenagers that I really didn't care about.
Apparently, neither did the characters because that one kid's brother dies and...at the end, the parents aren't even like: "where's muh babii?!?" Even the brother looked fairly happy once the blob was defeated or so it seemed (evidence that there was a strong bond in that family --> sarcasm).
The creature itself looked great; the color palate is pink and thick. The blob is a gooey as hell too, I mean, that thing looked like a Godzilla-scaled, chewed-up bubblegum. Again, the weakest point would be the plot, but that's almost to be expected, besides, it's the gore and/or effects that I TRULY seek [and that is what I found].
Note: I bought this yesterday [12/27/14] for $4.99 and the box included Fright Night, Christine, and the Seventh Sign (not that I care about the rest because I only wanted to see "the Blob").
