Review of The Blues Brothers (1980) by Dan M — 11 May 2017
Way more of a parody than a comedy, and a very long one at that. I know I'm going to be in the minority here, but I could not get into this at all. A comedy is supposed to make you laugh, not make you roll your eyes which is what I pretty much did throughout this.
I've laughed at parodies before, I love me some Leslie Nielsen, but this... nope, nope, nope. The whole side thing with Carrie Fisher as a terrorist with stormtrooper aim was more bizarre than anything else.
Also, how can you have a movie called the Blues Brothers and not feature B.B. King??? James Brown, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin are great sure, but that's soul music. Ah well, nitpicky me I know.
Maybe B.B. didn't want to be in this stinker is my guess.
