Kudos to Isabel Coixet for this ingenious adaptation of the Penelope Fitzgerald novel. Outstanding performances by Emily Mortimer, Bill Nighy, James Lance, and Patricia Clarkson. Just a beautiful, if heartbreaking film that preserves the feel of a novel with smart screenwriting and arresting direction.
