Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Sean M — 27 Nov 2017
My favorite David Lean movie. Some would go for Lawrence or Zhivago, but this is the flick that I think Lean's direction is at it's rawest and finest. Perhaps it's just the setting of the jungle, but I love the whole story and all the characters, especially Alec Guinness who rocks as always.
Very interesting and daring movie for the time. I like that the Japanese camp commander is more than just a villain. He's a man trapped in a system. Sure, it's inaccurate to the true life story, but dammit this one is pretty great.
