This was such a funny movie and is way overhated! It would be impossible to make a movie of that book without adding a lot to it, and they did pretty well with that. Mike Myers was perfect as the cat and he was a big part of what made the film so entertaining.
I liked the new characters they added such as Alec Baldwin as the antagonist and Mrs Kwan. The kids and the mom of course have more personality than they did in the book. The designs of everything are cool and look very Dr Seuss like.
I watched this movie as a kid and loved it, and I watched it again when I was older and it’s even better since I get more of the adult jokes. The Austin Powers type of humour is what made this one of if not the funniest kids movie of all time! The book was a classic and very charming, and the movie is super fun to watch.
