Review of The Cave (2005) by Injureddriver — 20 Dec 2022
Pretty mediocre movie. Very similar concept to the movie 'The Descent' which released the same year, but is worse in almost every way compared to that film. Some of the monster attack scenes are so poorly filmed and edited it's hard to tell what is even happening.
Lots of "shakey cam". The dialogue and characters are all pretty poorly written as well. I don't think it would be possible to find a more confrontational and ego tripping group of individuals to go on a spelunking expedition with.
To it's credit it has some pretty decent actors in it, including Cole Hauser, Morris Chestnut, Daniel Dae Kim, and a pre-300 / pre-GOT Lena Headey. Despite it's flaws, which are plentiful, it was mildly entertaining at points.
Some parts are so bad that they are actually kind of funny, so you'll get enjoyment in that respect as well. I guess watch it if you are still looking to fill that spelunking monster horror hole that 'The Descent' left in your life, if not probably skip it.
