The Circle. Fantastic cast, timely premise, great setup.... no depth. Emma Watson's character transitions from skeptic to true believer so quickly it can give you whiplash... and Karen Gillan in a supporting role takes the opposite journey again without explanation.
Tom Hanks is good as always, and Patton Oswald makes a pitch perfect toady to Hanks' tech billionaire, but well acted cardboard characters are still just cardboard characters.
