Review of The Cleanse (2018) by Chris K — 25 Jul 2018
Although refreshing to see Leonard Hofstadter outside of a sitcom riddled with an endless laugh track let alone outside simply an apartment room, The Cleanse really makes no sense whatsoever with very little character development (emphasis more on character amusement and talking about really boring things like blah blah blah) and ultimately seems a lot like a very slow-paced Gremlins but with ridiculously ugly toad-like things that aren't cute at all, not even when they were babies. The ending was somewhat predictable but entirely dull.
You know Johnny Galecki is a penny pincher when he agrees to sign up for cheap low-budget horror movies like this one and Rings even though he's already making almost or exactly $1 million per 22-minute episode of The Big Bang Theory.
