Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by Jim H — 11 Sep 2018
Good production values, hard to tell how good the acting is because everything else is utterly appalling. This is pandering at its worst. So far as I can tell, nothing that happens makes any sense, calling what strings together the overwrought-sturm-und-drang cliches a "plot" already conceals how perfunctory it is.
Calling the sad excuse for a "plot" "perfunctory" conceals how manipulative the storytelling, indeed the entire effort, really is.
