Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by Gunnermcdagget — 06 Feb 2018
I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It's not a brilliant movie by any margin but it's enjoyable. There's an interesting story, classic 90's nostalgic scenes, drama, and even comedy. The comedy can often be odd and feel out of place while taking a lot from a certain classic cult horror movie, but it succeeds in breaking up the excessive drama and tension. The movie also adds a decent explanation for the greater Cloverfield universe.
The more I think about the movie, the more I want to watch it again. It doesn't quite feel like a big budget blockbuster, but it feels like one of those TV movies that sticks in your head and could quickly stir up a cult following.
