Review of The Conjuring 2 (2016) by Thesodomizer — 18 Aug 2018
The Conjuring 2 is as fun and enjoyable as the first one, but also isn't original and fresh, it's a cliché at its fullest.
Setting that aside it is quite straightforward with a acceptable story and mediocre character development. TheThe Conjuring 2 is as fun and enjoyable as the first one, but also isn't original and fresh, it's a cliché at its fullest.
Setting that aside it is quite straightforward with a acceptable story and mediocre character development. The Hodgson family feels more realistic than the Perron family, meaning their emotions and fright were more believable. Set-pieces are well crafted and sometimes rely on jump-scares but not cheap ones and horror plays its part thanks to James Wan. Production wise Conjuring 2 was good, accept the editing which is soft of dull.
A big issue with The Conjuring 2 is the unexplained prophecy subplot not to mention the fast paced ending which doesn't exactly work with the slow paced first and second act.
On the contrary The Conjuring 2 is more-less enjoyable is you don't really think about it too much.
