Review of The Crater Lake Monster (1977) by Zachary M — 04 Jul 2016
Is it a bit weird when the most prominent and memorable thing about your killer lake monster movie is a pair of comical rednecks? No, really, okay then.
The science behind this is monster is both good and shockingly horrible. Good in the sense that it addresses one of the things skeptics have always questioned about real life lake monsters, where do they get enough food to sustain themselves. After it wake sup it completely decimates the fish population. Bad in that it says that a single egg and remain fertilized in cold mud for millions of years and then come back to life when the water gets a little warm.
The stop motion and model work are decent, but nothing comparable to say the works of ray Harryhausen. Still we got zany rednecks. Yay!
