Review of The Dark Knight (2008) by Ethan C — 21 Oct 2018
One of the most important films to have been released in the last 10 years The Dark Knight shows off some of the very best storytelling along with terrific performances and beautiful cinematography. The world of The Dark Knight is dark, realistic and gritty despite the fact that the main character solves crime in a giant bat costume. This tone suits the film really well as a crime drama and tells a very exciting and compelling plot.
However, perhaps the best thing about the film is Heath Ledger's chilling performance as The Joker. Ledger's performance perfectly captures the insanity of the character and is perhaps the best Joker ever put to screen. The Joker/Harvey Dent storyline of the film symbolises the fall of a great man and this classic plot is portrayed perfectly in the film.
Overall, The Dark Knight is possibly one of the most important films in recent times, it has revolutionary special effects and performances and has a lasting effect on the superhero genre as a whole, with films becoming darker after it's release.
