You can tell Nolan really stopped caring at this point, either through Heath Ledger's death or through the simple fatigue of directing yet another Batman movie. The result was a movie that was full of holes, unintentional hilarity, and a terrible, hamfisted non-tragedy.
Not even the iconic plane scene could save this.
