If you are not holding the movie hostage to the source material, and you are able to sit back and enjoy the story for what it is on its own, then it is quite enjoyable. Far from perfect or deep, but enjoyable.
One of the rare movies that I could say should have been an extra 30 minutes long to help develop some of the characters and backstory. A bit too rushed but otherwise a good, mindless summer movie.
