Review of The Dark Tower (2017) by Nate J — 14 Jan 2018
There have been instances where a movie based on a Stephen King novel have been amazing (see The Shining, Carrie and It) and there have been absolute travesties too (see Dreamcatcher and Sleepwalkers).
This is a strange one. whilst I really enjoyed it, I was also slightly miffed that they didn't just start from book one, The Gunslinger. Elba and McConaughey are just incredible, both moody and haunting characters who are hell bent on the others destruction.
There isn't a real backstory, nor any real motive to save The Dark Tower but this is the first step of many, so there is a lot of development to come. Enjoyable nonetheless, I really like the first step in this journey.
