Review of The Day After Tomorrow (2004) by Moviereviewer45 — 21 May 2018
The plot is quite generic and character development is not fully developed. I was not thoroughly engaged in the relationship of the main cast had for each other although Sela Ward ("Lucy Hall" in the movie) has some potential for a good characterization and role play for this movie. The love relationship of Sam and Laura is bland and I was not moved to an extent.
Despite a weak plot and character development, the CGI and special effects for this movie is just amazing. The tornadoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and the special effect that serves as a part of the climax in the movie is spectacular. A big budget is surely required to produce those sophisticated effects. The soundtrack for this movie is also well-crafted. It fits to the seriousness of the dilemma in the movie which is the destruction of the planet Earth and submerging itself in a new Ice Age.
Overall, the movie's quality has passed my criticism because of its great special effects. But, if those special effects are not that pleasing and below average then the movie could be an another average piece of sci-fi item.
Rating: 7/10 or 3.
