Underwhelming. Maybe it hasn't aged well, or simply been surpassed by subsequent sci-fi movies (which it possibly influenced) but I was quite disappointed with this. Plot was quite basic. The preachy sentiment was laid on very thick and not-at-all subtly. Acting was fairly wooden.
The 2008 remake was even worse...
