Review of The Death of Superman (2018) by Chris W — 13 Aug 2018
Mediocre animation, combined with CGI that has static backgrounds and overlayed with animated 3D (that looks as if it is just cell shaded 2D), and a total lack of any common sense. Shockwaves can destroy buildings and crack the ground, but the non-powered people at the epicenter are just fine?! The whole Justice League fighting as individuals was also eye wateringly lazy writing, though predictable.
Doomsday is *supposed* to die, come back from the dead immune to whatever killed him. In this version however, he is just a monsterous version of Superman with little to no difference other than being slightly more powerful in every way. They might as well have just gone with Reverse-Superman. Those claiming this is a good adaptation do not know the source material, and are easily satisified. There is a reason there are so few reviews of this (as of Aug 14), and no Metacritic entry at all. So watch it, just do not expect the shining 90% experience that many fanatic fans, and shill-wannabes are claiming.
