Review of The Decline of Western Civilization Part III (1998) by Michael W — 12 Nov 2009
I remember seeing this movie with some fair-weather friends I used to know when I was a teenager. I dug it. I could relate to a lot of the youth suffering from living on the street, because those were a lot of the people that I hung out with and sympathized with when I was 17-19 years old.
We went with a couple of guys that trekked all the way down to the Ken to see that movie from L. A. or wherever because they had a scene they pointed out to us where they were walking around in the background. That was kind of fun.
Anyway one of the girls I went with was a girl I had a crush on, but then she went out with one of the gutterpunks that came with us just to tick off her dad. (Though for obvious reasons they only went out for a week.) It made me really angry back then but looking back on it about 10-15 years in the future I think the context I remember this movie in was amusing and adorable. ;).
Cheesy, yeah, but that's why this is one of my fave films.
