Review of The Drop (2014) by Verfoleme — 02 Oct 2016
This may be Tom Hardy's best performance to date. He is totally convincing as a smiling innocent and inexperienced young man totally devoted to his dog Rocco, who he found as a young puppy seriously mangled in a garbage can.
Trouble enters when a tough young man comes claiming that the dog is his and demanding to have it back. Sound like a story for a maturing boy? Think again. Gandolfini is also very fine as Hardy's overseer in a Brooklyn bar with shady connections.
G masters the complex character he is.
