Review of The Eagle Huntress (2016) by John E — 16 Dec 2016
So I really thought that this is a documentary. I guess they think that if you can't understand the spoken word of the language that simply speaking in a foreign language and placing subtitles that qualifies. This was in NO WAY a documentary and rather a simple tale of a young woman with moxy who could break through the Mongolain eagle hunter glass ceiling. Even if inspiring on that level, I felt the producers were playing the audience by pulling them in with authenticity when it was clearly a stage managed production - the orchestral musical swells did confirm this.
Visually great - storyline simple sweet - but please don't try and make a hollywood story and pretend that is a documentary. You shame real documentaries by producing something a movie that is a sweet theatrical presentation. I left early . when I go to see real life I am not coming to see a interpretation of it - give me straight shot please.
