Review of The Elementary Particles (2006) by Wut S — 05 Jun 2008
Over-sentimentalism probably isn't the exact word I have in mind, but that was what gagged me throughout the film.
Two half-brothers share the same fate that of a b**** mother. One turns out to be an introvert who never reciprocates love given from his childhood girl, the other a psychopathethic, Nietzschean sexual freak finding a hard time trying to shape the world according to his desire.
This is one of those modern dramas created to captivate, to relate, to demonstrate the ever-fashionable, mild existential crisis of our lives. Most kinds of this film I largely disregard, but this one fortunately holds solid performance and decent cinematography. If the film had emphasized the concept of cloning more against the modern life, it would have more potential, I feel.
