Review of The End of the Tour (2015) by Wayne M — 27 Aug 2016
The End of The Tour is a supremely crafted, humane and very interesting look into the life of acclaimed novelist David Foster Wallace. It's 1996 and this very thoughtful film looks at 5 days or so of David Lipsky interviewing Wallace on a book tour for his masterpiece Infinite Jest.
Jason Segel is excellent as the troubled yet incredibly gifted Wallace who is very intelligent and perceptive and yet also very 'ordinary guy'. The dialogue between the two men is riveting as a mental push and pull reveals many truths and much wisdom.
This film is small in nature and yet huge in ideas and humanity.
