They wasted a good cast on junk writing. There are so many needless sub-plots that are a total waste of time, Especially when they revolve around one-off characters that won't even be around for the sequel (if there is one).
And the action is too far and in-between. Also, What was up with him just immediately figuring out the real villain behind it all not even halfway through the movie? Denzel's character pretty much flat out confronts him and says "I know it was you".
It's like the writer didn't even attempt some kind of grand reveal or mystery behind it and the real villain's reasoning is just painfully generic too.
