The First Purge tries to make a statement. Unfortunately, it bypassed an opportunity to look at human nature in favor of trying to capitalize on current events (and portraying them in a very controversial way).
The movie fails on basically every level: the plot falls apart, the visual style is inconsistent, and the only impact it has is negative.
