Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Daniel F — 19 Dec 2017
If you've ever driven past a dumpy motel and wondered who would ever stay there, then this movie is going to answer a lot of questions for you. Well-acted and well-directed, The Florida Project fails because of its story or lack thereof.
TFP offers little more than a look inside the lives of people you'd rather not know much about: a low caliber stripper turned thieving prostitute who has unfortunately procreated. The film's "hero", compassionate as he may be, is enabling this horrendous lifestyle for the main characters and implied dozens of people just like her.
The moral of the story is that these people needed a lot more tough love earlier in their lives but I don't think that's what it's going for. To top it all off, The Florida Project has one of the lamest movie endings since Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri.
