Review of The Foreigner (2017) by Michael D — 09 Feb 2018
This is not one of Jackie Chan's "funny" movies. This is more like a "I have a specific set of skills" movie. It's a revenge movie, but in a strange way. Jackie's character is only one step ahead of the actual authorities in the investigation, and sometimes not even that.
His struggle for vengeance doesn't actually get him anywhere. All the bad guys still die at the end, with or without his interference. So, it's a revenge movie about the uselessness of revenge.
And, knowing Jackie Chan, I think that was the message he was trying to send.
