Mamoru Hosoda is one of the best animation directors alive and he was able to firmly cement this fact with his first film. These characters are wonderful. They are so well written and well developed that I would swear they were real.
On top of that, this has some of the most inventive time travel writing I've seen. Go watch it. And prepare to cry.
